Define a Database

Previous Next

This section describes how to  create a new database and define its structure, in the following topics:

Create a New Database

This describes how to create a new database with a name of your choice and optionally register the database with the central Heurist Index.

Heurist Index. The heurist Index makes available to all users all Heurist core databases as well as all end-user generated databases that have been registered by the user.

You can then set information about the database, including ownership and some general behaviours.

Import Record Types

This describes how to find and download common record type definitions from any registered Heurist database, including the specially curated databases set up by the Heurist developers. The record type definitions downloaded can later be modified to your requirements.

It also describes how you can browse and download record type definitions documented on the Heurist network web site. In addition to saving a great deal of time, the documentation helps you learn about the best ways of setting up Heurist structures. The record type definitions downloaded can later be modified to your requirements.

Define Database Structure

This describes how to tailor your database structure by specifying and modifying record type, field type and term list definitions.
