Not listed on the Roll of Active Service. Mentioned in the University of Melbourne Magazine War Memorial number, July 1920, as having undertaken munitions work, or the like, in the United Kingdom. Appointed by the Federal Munition Committee to a serve on a committee investigating the manufacture of ferro-alloys in Australia.

Thomas he won a competition for the design of a swing-bridge over the Yarra at Spencer Street, and he designed several other bridges and irrigation works; he was employed as a consultant by such instrumentalities as the Metropolitan Gas Co., the Defence Department, the Commonwealth Public Works Department and the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research.
