Not listed on the Roll of Active Service. Mentioned in the University of Melbourne Magazine War Memorial number, July 1920, as having undertaken munitions work, or the like, in the United Kingdom. Chemist in the testing laboratory at HM Factory Queensferry; later chemist in charge of the laboratory.

In the First World War he was Chief Chemist of one of the largest explosives and chemical factories in England.
