Short description
G Fisher's Service Number was 33. He enlisted at Morphettville, South Australia. His next of kin was his father, F J Fisher. His unit embarked from Adelaide on HMAT Ascanius on 20 October 1914 for the Middle East. As an A Company Scout he was a skirmisher, one of those advancing forward of the rest of the battalion in order to seize Gun or Third Ridge after the Gallipoli Landing. He was wounded during this action and invalided out. After returning to the front after recovery he then became ill with dysentery and again was invalided out, this time ending up in UK. While recuperating there he transferred to the British Army as a Second Lieutenant, serving with Unspecified British Units. Later he was posted to India.
He was discharged from the A.I.F. on 1 February 1919 after returning to Australia.
