R L V Gambrell was reported missing first in April 1917. It was then discovered that he was a Prisoner of War, interned at Dulmen, later transferred to Moinden, then to Soltau, then to Graftenierderung. This information was supplied to Gambrell's father in Adelaide via the Red Cross in London.
