J S Verco developed an interest in radiology while he was serving in World War I.
After his return to South Australia, he set up an X-Ray practice in which he was joined by Colin Gurner and Bronte Smeaton. he was Honorary Radiologist at the Adelaide and Adelaide Children's Hospitals as well as Advisor to the South Australian Government on the Mass Chest X-Ray Health Survey from 1942.
