After returning from World War I, E A H Russell set up a medical practice at Westbourne Park, Adelaide and from 1920-23 was an Honorary Obstetrician at Queen's Home and later a consultant to the Home.
He was an ardent supporter of the St. John Ambulance Brigade and the Red Cross Society.
