Short description
After enlisting, E A H Russell embarked from Adelaide to England and then onto Lemnos. he was promoted to Major in 1916 and posted to no. 6 Field Ambulance. After serving in France and surviving a period of illness, he was posted to 1 Sanitary Section. After being promoted to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel, he was posted back to 3 Australian General Hospital. Subsequently, he was declared unfit for further service and was invalided back to Australia in 1919. E A H Russell remained in the Citizens Military Forces and was Commanding Officer of 3 Fd Ambulance from 1921-1926.
