Short description
H J Penny was first given the rank of Temporary Lieutenant on arrival in England in 1915.However, because of an accident that befell him after his training, he was unfit to go on active service  for some time. Instead he was appointed surgeon at De Walden Court Hospital, Eastbourne until 1916. After being promoted to Captain and fit for active service, he went to France in November 1916. He served in various unspecified British war units.
