PISTOL AS SOUVENIR
That he had not known that it was it necessary to register a pistol which he had kept as a war souvenir was the plea made by David Brendon Doyle analvtical chemist of Holmwood avenue Brighton. In the Brighton Court yesterday when he was charged with having had an unregistered pistol in his possession. In finding Doyle £1 in default distress Mr H L Jackson PM said the Bench was not disposed to inflict a heavy penalty in the circumstances Senior constable H Cooper read a statement in which Doyle said that he was a major in the military reserve. The pistol was issued to him in 1916 while he was on active service in nance On his return he was posted to the command of the 60th Battalion and was on the active list for l8 months Senior constable Cooper said he understood that the pistol would be returned to the Defence Department
