Mr Murray was an avid cricket player. He was mentioned in in Peter FRancis Kenny's "We who proudly served".
On his return from World War 1, he continued to play cricket for South Australia while keeping a property at Woodside breeding Suffolks and Ryelands. He also fought the authority's attempts to acquire his land for military trainning.
