E J Stuckey was active in the University Christian Union during his time at the University of Adelaide, 1895-1903. It is not known where he received his early education. However, he did well at university studies, being nominated as a University Scholar with Oliver Leitch in 1903 on completion of the first year of a B.Sc. degree.

E J Stuckey was a minister in the Protestant Church, most likely ordained as a Congregationalist, as Rev.(Reverend) is written beside his name on his Adelaide University Student Card.
Also after he returned to Australia following his service in World War I, he was given a farewell in Adelaide's Stow Church which was a well-known Congregational church at that time.
