B.E. : Corporal, 4th Field Coy., Engineers, A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt and France. Enlisting 16th February, 1915, and sailing with 3rd Reinforcements, joined 8th Battn. 8th May at Cape Helles; was in second Battle of Krithia and then at Anzac till the Evacuation, being transferred to 4th Coy. 12th December. Crossing to France in June, 1916, fought at Fleurbaix, Pozieres and the Somme till invalided to Ontario Military Hospital, Orpington, Kent, in September. Rejoining unit on recovery, was promoted acting-sergeant, 31st May, 1917, and 2nd corporal 2nd July, serving till death. Killed in Action, Lihons, 17th August, 1918, and buried in Military Cemetery, Bayonvillers. Early education at Newington College.
