M.B., Ch.M. : Major, R.A.M.C., Egypt and Mesopotamia. Enlisting in London 4th April, 1915, was M.O. Dorset Yeomanry, in Tripoli and later at Nazireh Military Hospital, Cairo. Served at Infectious Diseases Hospital, Basrah, in 1916; commanded Sanitary Unit at Makina, and 137th British and Indian Field Ambulance from Basrah to Baghdad, and was Registrar and X-ray Specialist at 31st Stationary Hospital, Baghdad. Injured in Tripoli in February, 1916, and in Mesopotamia, July, 1917, returning to Australia on demobilisation. Mentioned in Despatches twice. Early education at Inverell Public and Grammar Schools.
