Short description
C B Britten embarked for overseas service on 23 October 1916. He landed at Devonport, England and subsequently went to France. He contracted measles and was sent back to England to recover. Unfortunately, while he was still recovering, he fainted as he was awaiting a train at Victoria Station and fell onto the railway line into the path of an oncoming train. He was taken to St. George's Hospital and had both legs amputated as well as an arm. However, he died on 8
May 1917 in the hospital as a result of his injuries. He was 25 years of age.
