B.A. : Nurse, V.A.D., B.R.C., England and France. Sailing privately 25th July, 1914, joined north London Unit, making bandages etc. and going to hospitals as emergency helper till 11th May, 1915, when qualified as V.A.D. Then went to Soldiers' Ward, Royal Hospital for Paralytics, London, for a month and was Matron, Red Cross Hostel, Paddington, until December. In January, 1916, was sent as nurse to Dr. Haden Guest's Anglo-French Hospital, Nevers, and in September joined the Queen of the Belgians' Hospital, La Panne, returning to England for family reasons in April, 1917. Then till the end of 1918 worked with Australian Red Cross, London, returning to Australia in January, 1919. General Service Medals and Red Cross Member's Badge for five years' service. Early education at Miss Knox's School, Belsize Park Gardens, London, N.W.
