Pharmacy and Medicine I : Staff-Sergeant, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 27th April, 1916, and sailing 17th October, joined 2nd Australian Field Ambulance at Becourt Chateau near Albert in February, and served at Bazentin, Bapaume and Fremicourt. Opened advanced dressing station at Lebucquiere and, returning to Bapaume 25th April, was attached for short periods to 15th F.Amb. and 53rd Casualty Clearing Station in May and June. Returning to 2nd A.F.Amb. 21st July, went to 3rd Battle of Ypres on 24th October, did night duty for wounded from Passchendaele and then went to Senlecques n th December. Evacuated to Base Hospital, Boulogne, through injury 3rd January, 1918. Rejoining 1st March, served with unit at Hazebrouck, Villers-Bretonneux, Somme to Peronne, Charleroi after the Armistice, and until demobilisation. Early education at Petersham Public School.
