O.B.E., M.C., M.B., Ch.M., F.R.C.P., F.R.A.C.P. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt, Gallipoli, France and England. Enlisting in June, 1915, and sailing in July, served with No. 2 Australian General Hospital at Cairo and Alexandria. Joining 2nd Australian Field Ambulance in October, was with it at Lemnos until the Evacuation, then at Tel-el-Kebir and Serapeum and crossing to France in March, at Armentieres, Flers, Ypres and the Somme. Transferring to A.I.F. H.Q., London, in July, 1917, remained there till April, 1919, spent six months on non-military employment and returned in August, 1920. Promoted major, 24th August, 1917. Awarded O.B.E. 1st January, 1919, and M.C.* and Mentioned in Despatches twice.A.M.F. : Wing Commander, R.A.A.F., D.A.D.M.S., N.S.W. Tutor in Medicine 1923-34. Early education at Brisbane Grammar School. Later at St. Andrew's College. * He worked continuously for about sixteen hours in the open under heavy lire and successfully evacuated a large number of wounded men.
