M.B., Ch.M. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt, Gallipoli, Palestine, England and France; also A.N. and M.E.F., New Guinea. Enlisting on application by Navy to Sir Thomas Anderson Stuart 3rd August, 1914, was sent on hospital ship Grantala to Rabaul and Suva, returning in December. Re-enlisting in May, 1915, and sailing in June, was M.O. at No. 1 Australian General Hospital, Heliopolis, for two months, with 10th A.L.H. Regt. at Gallipoli till the Evacuation and then in Palestine till invalided. After convalescence was sent to No. 1 Australian Dermatological Hospital, Bulford, later to No. 1 A.G.H., Rouen, for three months and then to 14th Australian Field Ambulance, serving on the Somme and elsewhere, becoming second in command prior to demobilisation. Early education at Townsville Grammar School and Newington College.
