11.11.14, 2/Lt. 1st rfts. 8th Btn.; sailed 22.12.14; Egypt; Gallipoli from landing to evacuation, and twice wounded; transf. 59th Btn. on return to Egypt, and promoted Capt.; to France 18.6.16; posted as missing on 19th July 1916 at Fromelles, and afterwards known to have been killed by a shell in that action, after being wounded three times, and still leading his men.
