V.D., M.B., Ch.M. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt and Palestine. Enlisting 18th July, 1917, and sailing in September as O.C. troopship  Wiltshire  , served at No. 14 Australian General Hospital, Cairo, for one month and then with 4th A.L.H. Field Ambulance at Gaza, Beersheba, Jerusalem, Jordan Valley and 2nd Es Salt Raid, when Ambulance was captured with 12 of our men. Later transferring to Anzac Mounted Division Transport during Advance on Damascus and Homs, was for some weeks on coast at Tripoli and S.M.O. Rest Camp, Port Said, for three months, returning for demobilisation as S.M.O. troopship  Essex  with part of 4th Brigade A.L.H. Hon. Consultant, Brisbane Hospital. Early education at Brisbane Grammar School.
