KENNEDY, MALCOLM STUART. 1911.
Queen's Coll., Hobart; Ormond; 3rd year Med.; played League football with Melbourne F.C.; gave up his medical course to enter Duntroon and was the first cadet over 19 to enter; missed athletic championship of Duntroon by one point.
Left Duntroon as Lieut. to join 5th L.H. in Q., October 1914; sailed December 1914 to Egypt; wounded at Lone Pine 7.8.15; later invalided to London with enteric; seconded to 2nd Tank Coy. as gunnery instructor May 1916; returned to A.I.F., and joined 52nd Btn. near Fiers November 1916; Capt. 7.12.16, acting Coy. Commander; staff course at Cambridge 25.12.16; rejoined unit 21.2.17; G.S.O. III. 1st Div. 10.7.17 in charge of Intelligence work.
On 2nd January 1918, at Estaminet Corner, Wytschaete Ridge, he was hit by a chance shell while on his way to the trenches, 3,000 yards behind the front lines; he was taken to the advanced dressing station of 2nd Fld. Amb., but only lived three hour s after being hit.
