JOWETT, ERIC CRAVEN. 1908.
M.C.E.G.S.; Trinity; B.M.E. (conferred posthumously); went to Trinity Coll., Camb., in 1914.
Enlisted on outbreak of war in Cambridge Univ. O.T.C., and gained commission in 14th Btn. Northumberland Fusiliers; in June 1915 transf. to R.F.C., and became Pilot November 1915; joined No. 4 Sqdn. 15th wing in France April 1916, and later became Lieut. and Acting Flight Commander. On 8th July 1916 he was shot down while pursuing an enemy plane 6 miles within the German lines. He died early next day, and was buried in the Military Cemetery at Miraumont on 9th July 1916.
