Dent. IIl : Lieutenant, 34th Battn. and A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France. Enlisting with 9th Australian Field Ambulance in August, 1915, served in France until selected for Officers Training School at Trinity College, Cambridge, in February, 1917. Returning to France as second-lieutenant in 34th Battn. at Ypres in August, fought until wounded when leading an attack near Passchendaele 12th October, 1917. Died of Wounds, in hospital, 13th October, 1917, and was buried in Nine Elms British Cemetery, Poperinghe. Early education at Kempsey Superior Public School and Newington College. Sincere, honourable and public spirited, he was greatly beloved . . . He has left behind the memory of a gallant career and a noble sacrifice.
