HOLMES, KENNETH WOODFULL. 1909.
Caulfield G.S.; Trinity; B.C.E.; was in the Victorian Railways service
on construction and bridge-building.
21.6.15, Cpl. 5th F.C.E.; sailed 23.11.15; transferred 4th Pnr. Btn.
in Egypt 16.3.16; 2 Lieut. 24.3.16; to France April 1916; Lieut. 24.6.16; transf. Anzac Light Railways early in 1917, and then to Salvage Corps; transferred to A.F.C. 17.6.17, graduated as pilot, and was attached for training to a R.F.C. Sqdn. in France.
On 11th August 1917 he was brought down inside the German lines during an air-fight over Douai, and died while a prisoner in German hands; he had brought down fourteen enemy planes. He was buried in the Military Cemetery at Noyelles-Godault.
