Camberwell G.S. and S.C.; Ormond; had passed three years of Engineering; rowed in Engineers' crew; Sgt. in M.U.R..
Was working at Lands Department Survey Camp at Manangatang when he enlisted in June 1915 as Pte. in 8th rfts. of 8th Btn.; transferred 29th Btn. at its formation; L Cpl. October 1915; sailed 10. II. 15, and reached Egypt r2. 12. 15; Cpl. January 1916; attached R.E. as supervisor of native labour on construction of communication roads and railways E. of canal; to France January 1916; Sgt. after Fromelles July 1916; invalided to England with injured knee December 1916; rejoined Btn. and served as Platoon Sgt.
Shot through the head by a sniper at Polygon Wood 26th September 1917.
