B.V.Sc. : Sapper, 14th Field Coy., Engineers, A.I.F., Egypt and France. Enlisting in August, 1915, and sailing 7th January, 1916, as corporal 12th Reinforcements 3rd Battn., transferred to Engineers at Tel-el-Kebir 18th March and served with 5th Division in Desert and in France from June, 1916, until gassed severely at Villers-Bretonneux 24th April, 1918, and invalided to England, returning to Australia in April, 1919. Early education at Fort St. High School.
