STARLING, BENJAMIN ALFRED. 1895.
Hawthorn Coll.; B.C.E.; Chief Surveyor and Chief Railway Surveyor in Federated Malay States. Called to London in 1915 on State business, and applied for permission to enlist, but was not allowed until beginning of 1916; then enlisted as Pte. in the London Regt.; became an instructor in the M.G. Section, went through an Officers' School, and gained commission in the infantry; served in France with 1st Btn. London Regt.; wounded in November 1917.
He was killed by a shell fragment near Gavrelle on 23rd March 1918, and buried in the Military Cemetery at Roclincourt.
