M.B., Ch.M.; D.P.H., R.C.P.S. (Irel.) : Lieutenant-Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt and Gallipoli. Enlisting in August, 1914, and sailing 18th October as major with 1st Australian Field Ambulance, was detailed for special duty in connection with water supply etc. with advance party from Egypt to Lemnos and was at the Anzac Landing 25th April, 1915. Served as D.A.D.M.S. 1st Division till July, 1915, when invalided to Australia, arriving in October. Promoted lieutenant-colonel, 7th May, 1915. A.M.F. : P.M.O., 2nd Military District (N.S.W.), 1916-17. Colonel (retired). Early education at Newcastle Grammar School. Later at St. Andrew's College.
