B.E. : Engineer-Lieutenant-Commander, R.A.N. Appointed 6th February, 1915, sailed on 18th and served as engineer-sub-lieutenant H.M.A.S.  Melbourne  on North American and West Indies Stations until August, 1916, and with 2nd Light Cruiser Squadron in North Sea until March, 1917. Promoted engineerlieutenant to H.M.A.S.  Australia  , flagship of 2nd Battle Cruiser Squadron until the end of the War and subsequently flagship of the Australian Fleet, returning in June, 1919. Engineer-Lieutenant-Commander, R.A.N. (Retired). Early education at Leichhardt Superior Public School.
