C. de G., Arts III (e): Lieutenant, 34th Battn., A.I.F., France. Enlisting in November, 1915, and sailing as second-lieutenant in May, 1916, arrived in France in November and went almost immediately to the Front, serving in Armentieres and Messines sectors till death. Promoted lieutenant 1st August, 1916. Awarded C. de G. for gallantry in action. Killed in Action, Ploegsteert, 1st June, 1917, while leading a raid on German trenches, and buried in Strand Military Cemetery, Ploegsteert. Early education at Wagga Wagga High School. Later at Teachers' College.
