Eng. I : Private, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli and France. Enlisting 11th June, 1915, and sailing in October, served with 1st Australian Field Ambulance at Gallipoli, Lemnos and France from December, 1915, until 22nd February, 1917, when attached to 3rd Battn. Wounded in Hermies sector 15th April, returning to the Line on 1st August and continuing as regimental stretcher-bearer till death. Killed in Action, Menin Road Battle, 20th September, 1917, and buried at Cable Head, near Hooge, Westhoek. Member S.U. Scouts. Peter Nicol Russell Scholar. The  K. K. SAXBY  Prize was founded in 1918 by his father in his memory. Early education at Sydney High School. Later at Technical College (Diploma).  He died as he lived, nobly.  He had much gallant work to his credit before he rejoined the Battn. and he always showed the same splendid devotion to duty in any call . . . during his whole association with the unit.
