M.C., Arts I and Law : Lieutenant, R.F.A., B.E.F., France; also 6th A.L.H. Regt., A.I.F., Gallipoli. Enlisting in September, 1914, and sailing 19th December with regt., arrived at Gallipoli 10th May, 1915. Was wounded in July and evacuated to Malta and London. Transferring to Artillery in November, was commissioned and, crossing to France in February, 1916, joined 86th Brigade, being again wounded at Ploegsteert in October and evacuated to London. Rejoining bde. in April, 1917, served at Messines and Wytschaete, where again wounded in September, and a fourth time at Ypres 30th November, 1917, and invalided to London and Australia. Promoted lieutenant, 1st July, 1917. Awarded M.C. in September, 1917, and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at The King's School. Later at St. Andrew's College.
