Enlisting 31st August, 1914, and sailing 18th October, served at the Anzac Landing 25th April, 1915, being wounded next day and evacuated to No. 15 General Hospital, Alexandria, and thence to England and Australia, arriving in June, 1916. Re-enlisted in University Coy. but was unfit for Active Service. President, Evening Students' Association, 1921 and 1924. Early education at Dubbo District School. Later at Teachers' College.
