M.C., M.B. : Captain, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., France. Enlisting 30th July, 1916, and sailing in October, served at No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, from 25th January, 1917. Joined 12th Australian Field Ambulance 7th April, being R.M.O. Divisional Ammunition Column from 12th and, transferring to 4th A.F.Amb. 29th August, was R.M.O. 10th Field Artillery Brigade from 1st November, 1917, to 4th April, 1919, then returning for demobilisation. Awarded M.C.* in December, 1917, and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at St. Patrick's College, Goulburn (Dux). *  For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty when in charge of a bearer division. He remained at a cross road throughout the day attending to casualties and supervising their evacuation, though the enemy was persistently shelling the area with gas and high explosives.
