M.C., M.B., Ch.M. : Captain, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., England and France. Volunteered in November, 1914, but health being under standard due to convalescence, was appointed honorary captain (part-time) A.A.M.C. Depots in November, 1915. Enlisting in June, 1917, and sailing in July, served as M.O. Training Battn., Salisbury Plain, and crossing to France, at No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Wimereux, with 13th Australian Field Ambulance, 2nd Australian Tunnelling Coy., 4th Division Brigade Nucleus, and British Casualty Clearing Station in Belgium. Attended Clinical Surgery course, Royal Infirmary Edinburgh, in March, 1919, returning in July, as M.O. troopship Indarra . Awarded M.C., with Investiture at Buckingham Palace, for work at Hindenburg Line operations 29th September, 1918. Early education at private and Sydney Grammar Schools.
