B.A. : Lieutenant, 13th Battn., A.I.F., Gallipoli. Enlisting in December, 1914, and sailing in March, 1915, arrived at Anzac 29th May and a few hours later  set a fine example of active leadership and self-careless devotion to duty by jumping into the first line beyond the bomb-proof shelter and leading a party to recover trenches which had been taken by the Turks  , being for this commended in Corps Orders. From June served as platoon commander till death. Killed in Action, near Arghyl Dere, 7th August, 1915, after a night march to join with British troops landing at Suvla Bay, and buried in 7th Field Ambulance Cemetery, Anzac. Early education at Sydney Church of England Grammar School. Later at St. Paul's College.
