D.S.O., M.B., Ch.M.; F.R.C.S. (Edin.), F.R.A.C.S. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., England and France. Enlisting and sailing in June, 1915, as M.O. troopship Hobart, was at No. 1 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Harefield, till 27th September, 1916, when transferred to. No. 1 Australian General Hospital, Rouen. Later joined 7th Australian Field Ambulance, being R.M.O. 25th Battn. from 1st January, 1917, till gassed at Mericourt in May, 1918. Afterwards was a member of a surgical team at No. 2 A.G.H., Wimereux, serving until demobilisation. Awarded D.S.O. 1st January, 1918, and Mentioned in Despatches. Early education at Christian Brothers' College, Nudgee, Q. Later at St. John's.
