D.S.O., M.B., Ch.M., D.P.H. : Colonel, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt, England and France. Enlisting 1st January, 1915, and sailing 31st May, was with 5th Australian Field Ambulance in Gallipoli and Egypt till 24th February, with 15th till June and 14th in France till September. Then was in command of 6th A.F.Amb. till March, 1918, and Acting D.A.D.M.S. 4th Division till severely wounded 24th June at Bussey near Daours and evacuated to hospital. From November served at No. 2 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Southall, till demobilisation. Promoted major, 26th March, 1915; lieutenant-colonel, 20th November 1916. Awarded D.S.O. 1st January, 1918. Early education at Sydney Church of England Grammar School. Later one year in Arts.
