A.R.I.B.A., Instructor in Architectural Design : Captain, R.E., B.E.F., France. Enlisting at Tottenham, London, 1st June, 1915, in R.E., trained to November with 99th Infantry Brigade Signals. Then crossing to France, served as signaller till 10th June, 1917, when commissioned and attached to 3rd Field Survey Battn., remaining with it until demobilisation. Promoted lieutenant (acting captain), 28th October, 1918.Early education at Sydney Grammar School.

In WWII he was Deputy Director of Camouflage for NSW 1942-45. Between 1925 and 1951 he held eight exhibitions at the Macquarie Galleries, Sydney. He was a vice-president of the Society of Artists and in 1954 was awarded its medal. His best-known painting is probably a sparkling oil of Sydney Harbour, bought by the National Art Gallery of New South Wales in 1936- From ADB entry.
