M.A.; Ph.D. (Harv.) : Senior Chaplain, A.I.F., Gallipoli, England and France. Enlisting 8th September, 1914, and sailing on 23rd with 9th Battn., was attached to 1st A.L.H. Bde. in Egypt and landed at Gallipoli with it 12th May, 1915, when appointed Senior Chaplain, A. and N.Z. Division, serving till invalided, 27th October, returning to Australia 4th January, 1916. Re-enlisting and sailing 29th December, 1917, after resuming duty as Senior Chaplain (Presbyterian), 1st (Queensland) Military District for twelve months, served at No. 3 Australian Auxiliary Hospital, Dartford, from 21st March to 25th April, 1918, and then at H.Q., Tidworth, till 4th July. Crossing to France, was at Australian Infantry Base Depot, Rouelles, till appointed to 2nd Divisional Troops, attached to 5th Artillery Brigade 26th October, remaining with them until demobilisation. A.M.F. : Senior Chaplain (Presbyterian) 1st Military District. Medallist, M.A. and B.A. Woolley Travelling Scholar, 1903-05. Prizeman and Research Student, Edin. Univ., 1903-04. Member of Senate, University of Queensland, 1916 and 1919, and First Chairman, Emmanuel College. Member of St. Andrew's College.
