D.S.O., M.B. : Major, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., Egypt and France. Enlisting and sailing in June, 1915, was with No. 1 Australian General Hospital, Heliopolis, until n th January, 1916. Then joining 2nd Australian Field Ambulance, became R.M.O. 9th Battn. 23rd February and, crossing with it to France, was wounded at Rouge de Bout, 20th April, and evacuated to hospital. Transferring to No. 2 A.G.H. 22nd September, returned to 9th Battn. 19th October and remained with it until transferred to 3rd A.F.Amb. 28th April, 1917, after first Bullecourt and to 1st after Ypres, serving until demobilisation. Promoted major, 20th June, 1917. Awarded D.S.O. 1st January, 1919, and Mentioned in Despatches twice. Early education at St. Ignatius' College.
