B.A. : Lance-Sergeant, 55th Battn., A.I.F., Egypt and France. Enlisting 21st September, 1915, and sailing 23rd December with 17th Battn. reinforcements, joined 55th at Tel-el-Kebir in March, 1916, taking part in Moascar Desert March with 14th Brigade and serving near Ismailia till June. Then crossing to France, fought in Fleurbaix, Somme, Bullecourt and Ypres sectors, attending 5th Divisional Infantry School, Monton Villars, prior to Battle of Bullecourt. Wounded severely at Polygon Wood 21st September, 1917, returning to Australia in September, 1918. Early education at Sydney High School. Later at Teachers' College.
