W D.S.O., Arts : Major, General List, and 4th A.L.H. Regt., A.I.F., Egypt, England and France. Enlisting 18th August, 1914, and sailing 10th October as Captain 4th A.L.H. Regiment, served as Deputy Assistant Director of Ordnance Services, A.I.F. H.Q. at Cairo till May, 1916, and at London till August. Crossing to France, became adjutant of an entrenching battn. till 19th September when appointed Salvage Officer, 1st Anzac Corps H.Q. Wounded outside Bailleul 1st January, 1918, and evacuated to Australia, arriving 2nd May. Promoted major, 22nd November, 1915. Awarded D.S.O. 4th June, 1917, and Mentioned in Despatches three times. South African Wa r: Trooper, 1st N.S.W. Mounted Rifles. 1899-1901. Early education at Royston College and Sydney Grammar School.
