O.B.E., B.D.S. : Major, A.A.M.C. (Dental Services) and 1st A.L.H. Regt., A.I.F., Gallipoli, England and France. Enlisting 1st September, 1914, and sailing 20th October as lancecorporal 1st A.L.H. Regt., landed 12th May, 1915, at Gallipoli, where promoted corporal and sergeant; wounded at Pope's Hill 7th August and evacuated to Malta and thence to Cardiff and Llandovery Hospitals. On 23rd October, being declared  Unfit for further Active Service  , was transferred to Dental Services and started the Abbey Wood Camp Dental Department 28th November. Crossing to France 21st September, 1916, was invalided to No. 3 London General Hospiial 5th December and on recovery served from 14th January, 1917, to demobilisation as S.D.O., No. 1 Command Depot, Sutton Veny, Codford and Wareham. Promoted lieutenant, 19th January, 1916; captain, 6th April, 1917; major, 29th September, 1918. Lecturer in Mechanical Dentistry. Early education at St. Nicholas' College, Waverley, and Petersham Superior Public School.
