B.A., Econ. : Lieutenant, General List (Education Service) and A.A.S.C., A.I.F., Gallipoli, Egypt and France. Enlisting in 4th Reinforcements 7th Coy. A.A.S.C. 22nd December, 1914, and sailing 9th April, 1915, reached Gallipoli 20th May and was evacuated injured to Cairo 17th August. Rejoining unit, was on Suez Canal Defences until June, 1916, when transferred with 4th Divisional Train to France. Served at the Somme, Battle of  The Ridges  , Messines, forced march to Amiens, Hamel, Villers-Bretonneux and elsewhere, finally advancing to Dinant. Transferring in January, 1919, to Australian Corps H.Q., was promoted from sergeant to lieutenant, 30th April, remaining with Education Service until demobilisation. Member of Teachers' College.
