Med. II : Gunner, 38th Battery, A.F.A., A.I.F., France. Enlisting in January, 1916, and sailing with 30th Reinforcements 5th November, 1917, joined 4th Division in March, 1918, serving until gassed 26th April. Rejoining battery upon recovery, was wounded at Imberlait Farm, near St. Souplet, 18th October while serving his gun in carrying out a barrage with 2nd American Corps. Died of Wounds, 41st Casualty Clearing Station, 20th October, 1918, and was buried in Roisel Communal Cemetery Extension. A.M.F. : Acting Sergeant, 9th A.L.H. at enlistment. Early education at Newington College and Sydney Grammar School.  He died that we may live.
