M.B., Ch.M. : Captain, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., and R.A.M.C., B.E.F., France and England. Enlisting 4th April, 1915, was gazetted lieutenant R.A.M.C. on 7th and sailing in May, served at a training camp in England and, crossing to France, was attached to 9th Royal Welsh Fusiliers and returned to Australia in May, 1916. Enlisting in A.I.F. 1st October, was stationed at Brisbane Military Hospital and, sailing 10th May, 1917, went to No. 3 Command Depot, Hurdcott. Joining 14th Australian Field Ambulance in France 21st October, became R.M.O. 53rd Battn. on 26th and was gassed severely about 22nd April, 1918, at Villers-Bretonneux and evacuated to 3rd London General Hospital. On recovery some months later was attached to H.Q., Tidworth, and, though never fully regaining health, served till demobilisation. Died of Illness due to War Service, Murrayville, Victoria, 13th March, 1921, and was buried at Rookwood Cemetery. Early education at Leichhardt Public and Sydney High Schools.
