M.B., Ch.M. : Lieutenant, 1st A.L.H. Regt., A.I.F., Egypt and Palestine. Enlisting 26th January, 1916, and sailing 2nd May, fought at Romani and Suez Canal, where wounded 4th August, 1916, and evacuated to hospital at Cairo. After two months rejoined battn., took part in Desert March and served at El Arish, Magdaba, Rafa, Gaza II, Beersheba and Khuwilfeh, where wounded 3rd November, 1917, and again evacuated to hospital at Cairo for two months. Rejoining battn. at Jaffa in January, 1918, served in Jordan Valley and till demobilisation, except from 31st August while at Cairo Officers School. Promoted corporal, March, 1918;  second-lieutenant, 4th January, 1919. Early education at King''s College, Goulburn.
