M.B., Ch.M. : Captain, A.A.M.C., A.I.F., England and France. Enlisting 6th November, 1916, and sailing in January, 1917, as S.M.O. troopship "Ajana ", served a short time at Harefield Hospital and then crossing to France, at No. 2 Australian General Hospital, Wimereux. Joining Australian Field Ambulance 24th July, was M.O. No. 2 Casualty Clearing Station, Steenwerck, during August and R.M.O. 4th Battn. from 3rd September. Transferring to 1st M.G. Battn. 19th April, 1918, was wounded severely at Proyart 25th August and, as a result, was in hospitals in France and England for ten months. Returned to Australia via U.S.A. in April, 1921. Early education at Sydney Church of England Grammar School. Later at St. Paul's College.
